I'm Gonna Need A Bigger Boat

Ok not a boat but a car. And in case you didn't know that's a line from Jaws which is one of my all time favorite movies. I make a point to watch it at least one time per summer. Keeps me outta trouble and off the beach.

Back to the bigger car. We're going to our house in the Catskills for a two week vacation this week. We're supposed to leave on Tuesday but we have so much stuff to bring up, Glenn and I were going to take a day trip to bring up the boat motor and the wheels for the trailer for the boat this Saturday. Then I got to thinking. Why don't Patrick, Glenn and I take the trip and Patrick and I can stay up there with Glenn and Glenny coming up on Tuesday? Brilliant! We'd have all gone up this weekend but Glenny has his third Regents exam on Tuesday so he's got to stay in the city. Oh he's also going to be participating in the College Now Program in NYC and his class starts on the 11t so we're squeezing this two weeks in between classes, graduations (Patrick from middle school), Regents and life in general.

Ok the point of all that misegash is that Patrick and I will be starting our vacation a few days early. I really love having one on one time with one of my boys. I see knitting, reading (He and I formed our own book club this summer. I'm reading the Hunger Games series and he's reading The World According to Garp) and a backgammon tournament in my near future. I can't wait!

Hope your summer is off to as a great a start as mine is!

Vacation Knitting

Yesterday Glenn and I figured out when we'll be taking vacation. Today I had to get my vacation knitting together. That's the most important part of my vacation planning. That and making sure the boys pack enough underwear.

Here's what I've got:

The four balls are Koigu for a Clapotis. The lavender is Hazel Knits, the green is Malabrigo and the brown is Socks That Rock. I loaded my Nook Color with patterns and I'll pack a couple of sock books.

I think it's enough for a two week vacation, don't you?

Sockupied

The last two weeks have been insanely busy so I haven't gotten much knitting done which is why I haven't been blogging lately. I hope to make up for that in the next week or so!

I finished up my lace rib socks this week. Just in time for summer. I do have an amazing sense of timing don't I?

I cast on a new pair of socks yesterday. They'http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifre Crystalline Socks by Debbie O'Neill and I got the pattern from the emag Sockupied which was put out by Interweave. If you're not familiar with Sockupied you should really check it out. It's an interactive magazine with interviews, videos and patterns. I love a new way to get patterns and just realized that I'll have to see if I can get it onto my Nook Color so I can take it with me to watch on the go!

I'm using my new Mad Tosh Merino Light in Silver Fox. Love it! The pattern is great because it comes in four different sizes so I can make these for everyone without sorta winging it for sizing.

I'm vowing to clean out my yarn cupboard this week to see what I have other than a lot of sock yarn. I'd like to make a hat for myself and some baby stuff for Joyce's baby who is due in October.
