I started a pair of these awesome Sunday Swing Socks I found on Knitty. One of the things I was really excited about was that the pattern came in several different sizes going up to extra large. With a size ten shoe, this was great news for me. As my Granny would say "I've got a firm grip on the earth." It sounds much better with her lovely Scottish brogue. Usually when I knit socks I just knit and figure that they'll fit someone in my immediate family since we come in all different sizes. This time I started the knit knowing that they would definitely be for me. I chose the wonderful yarn Megan had sent me for my birthday last year from Bare Sheep Yarn Company on Etsy in the Lil June Bug color and I got to knitting. Here's my progress thus far:
Cute aren't they? But I may have a problem. I think they may be a bit too big. I'll wait till I'm done with the toe and try them on. I may have to frog the whole damn big thing. Eh what can you do? It's a great knit and I'm really enjoying it so I won't mind if I have to knit three socks instead of two.
In other sock knitting news, today Lion Brand Studio is having a socktacular! There will be demos and raffles. I also heard, from a little birdie, that there will be an unveiling of new sock yarns. This is not definite but my little birdie has a very good source so we shall see!

8 Talk to me:
you know you can try them on as you go?
be carefull but just slip your foot in.
Ok so the very end is not quite right *(unless you have triangular or square feet!) --but its not quite right even with circ.. (better but..)
i always fit my socks as i work on them
make sure the cast on is loose enough, the heel deep enough, and make a longer gusset and adjust the width sock as needed
I'll be at the socktacular too. .with pink socks on (lion brand sock ease cotton candy color way.. it will be good to meet you--finally!
I just knit my first sock ever and it fit! I tried it on too many times while knitting, but the result was worth it.
What a pretty colorway! I've been thinking about trying that pattern myself. I just need to find the right yarn!

You should definitely try it on, right now. When that little voice is saying "it might be too big," it's probably too big. I ignore that little voice a lot, and I always get bitten!
I agree...try it on as you go...starting NOW...so that you don't have to frog the whole darn thing if it's too big.
That sock is cute. I hope it fits! :)
Oh I love it! They are going to be adorable.
I made these recently and yah.. the pattern is way stretchy... I really should have made a size smaller.. mine are a bit loose too.
