A Little Trip

Yesterday was a lovely St. Patrick's Day, I must admit. I woke up and my knee was feeling pretty good so I asked my husband if he'd take me for a ride. Smart man that he is, he asked which yarn shop I'd like to go to. I replied that it felt like a day for a trip to Brooklyn. So we went to Brooklyn General Store to check it out again. The first time we'd gone was the weekend of the NYC Yarn Crawl and I didn't get a great look around. I made up for it this time.
They really do have an amazing selection of yarns. I knew I didn't want sock yarn so I was looking for something with a bit more weight to it. I found some Morehouse that I really liked and some Dream in Color Smooshy that was lovely. The Morehouse is a local place so I was happy with that. I got 4 skeins, 2 in a pumpkin color and 2 in a light green. The Smooshy I got in Good Luck Jade, another green. We had a lovely time there and I could have spent hours going through it all but we had to get back home before the kids got home from school.

I also got some blocking wires which I'll be needing for my next project. What is it, you ask? Well it's this:

I found it on Ravelry and it's a Lion Brand pattern but I'm not using Lion Brand Yarn. I'll give more information on it when I finish it.

Morehouse is local? That's good to know. I have some from Gotham Fine Yarn. Where are they located?

And Brooklyn General is very nice. I love their fabric too! Some really fun prints there :o)

For me, Dream In Color is local :o)

Srsly, you and I must be on the same wavelength color-wise. I was just thinking about how I could use my pumpkin and khaki green Blue Sky Alpaca cotton - especially now that Spring is days away.

You have so many nice yarn stores by you! How lucky! I have a few, but they don't seem to be very prevalent here in NE Ohio.

That afghan looks like a lovely knit. I almost made it myself, but I wanted something a bit more intricate. Looking forward to see what you use for it.

i've been wanting to do an afghan for a while, but i'm intimidated by the time commitment. there's a beautiful pattern in the last interweave knits. kind of celtic.

Drat!! I missed you! I was swamped with a looong to-do list yesterday, anyway. Looks like you got some gorgeous Morehouse, though!

Nice haul!

And, I have a friend that made that blanket and it turned out awesome. I can't wait to see yours!

Oooh, that yarn looks scrummy! Can't wait to see how it knits up. Might just take a bike ride to BGS later, since I have the day off. I hear they have Malabrigo. This could be dangerous. ;-)

I made this blanket a few years ago. LOVED IT. Super easy and quick.
