Arthritis that is. I've been having some knee pain and was diagnosed with severe arthritis this past week. Then my knee popped. I mean an audible pop came from my knee. When the doctor asked I told him it popped like a high school senior's cherry on prom night. He didn't find me amusing (I did) but he did send me for an MRI which we are now awaiting the results of. I may need surgery. So I'll be laid up for a while.
I do have an FO to show you but my mobility is limited right now and with my darling man doing all the cooking and cleaning, I sorta feel like taking a photo isn't a priority right now. I will get it to you soon though.
In other knitting news, I've decided to make slippers for the boys. They're killing all their socks so I found a pattern and made a slipper for Patrick. Wrong size. It can go to the same kid who will take the shrunken socks off his feet. I'll be perusing Rav today looking for men's slipper patterns. I have a feeling there won't be a lot of patterns from which to choose but I will be diligent and find something.
Hopefully being laid up will allow me more time to knit and blog so I'm sure I'll have more stuff for you soon!

7 Talk to me:
see an orthopedist.. or better yet, someone who specializes in Arthritis.
Surgery, frequently is not the best solution (obviously, it is sometimes..but i think (always!) surgery should be a last choice.. (not the first one--unless you have appendicitis!)
and arthritis can strike at any age--(i have it since my 30's--and my granddaughter has juvenil RA--for a few years now.
She's being treated (sucessfully!) with accupunture.
I find for me, diet makes a big difference.. (nightshade family foods (tomato, potato, eggplants) are all bad for me.)
and for most forms of arthritis, mild (non weight bearing) exersize is very benefitial--movement (not lack!) Water aerobics is great.. lots of movement, no weight!)
Maybe you are lucky and just have some muscle or tendon damage (slight damage--that doesn't require a surgical repair!)
but if you do have arthritis, there are lots of things that work besides surgery!
Oh... OWWWW! I hope they can fix it with minimal surgery.
ouch ouch ouch!
rest up and knit, it may not help the arthritis but you'll feel better!
Sorry to hear about your knee. I hope surgery is minor if you do ned it. Make sure you plan for physical therapy after its so important. Let us know how it goes.
haha aww... I thought it was a funny comment... maybe the doc had heard that one before? OR his daughter is a high school senior this year...
so sorry about your pain!! enjoy your knitting in the process, and let us know how everything goes!
I'm really sorry to hear about the diagnosis. I just came to your blog for the first time today, but my mom has had RA since she was a teen and it's been debilitating on and off since then. I think unfortunately she hasn't been a real advocate for herself, though, and she'll pretty much do whatever her doctors tell her to without looking for alternatives or second opinions. Do look into dietary factors, acupuncture, and exercise options. I hope you find a combination that works for you.
Ouch - I hope that they figure out what's wrong and that find something to make you feel better soon.
