Taiyo. Taiyayayo.

This is Noro Taiyo. I purchased this, rather hastily, when KnitNY had their closing sale. It's a 40% cotton, 30% silk, 15% wool & 15% nylon blend but feels like 100% cotton. It's not very giving. I started a hat with it but didn't like it at all so, after several hours work, I tore it down and am now looking for a nice project for it. It's a bit over 200 yards so if you have any suggestions please feel free to pass on a pattern.
We went away this past weekend and it rained. Again. I think that may be the fourth weekend in a row it has rained. We're having our annual Birthday/Memorial Day party this coming Saturday and they're already callling for rain. It's both Patrick and my husband's birthdays so we have a big barbeque bash to celebrate and kick off the summer. It's been raining so much, we haven't even had a chance to get the yard ready. Hopefully this weekend the rain gods will be off celebrating summer too and will let the sunshine in.
In other knitting news, I'm still procrastinat-ummmm working on the sock for my brother in law. I don't know why I just won't work on it. I think I'm afraid of making a mistake. But plod on I shall, today. And get them done and in the mail.
Tomorrow a meetup at Madison Square Park again. Hope the friggin weather is nice!

Sorry the yarn isn't what you hoped for. Silk is similar to cotton in terms of not being bouncy, so perhaps that's why it's not what you had expected.

I can't seem to get on a normal schedule.

I'd say there's a 10 percent chance I can meet you guys tomorrow. But I'm holding onto the 10 as if it were 90.

That weather! Sorry it isn't cooperating... but that yarn is very, very pretty. I would think a hat would be great for it, but I know sometimes things that look good in your mind don't turn out as well on the needles... hmm.

bummer that the silk blend turns out to be acting like cotton! I struggle with cotton's 'non-giving' nature - I'm having that same feeling with my tofutsies...the yarn feels like string for me...
Bummer, too, about the rain... I would recommend finding something deliciously soft (in your stash or in your LYS) like alpaca or silk/merino and curl up by a fireplace with a cuppa tea and knit....until the rain stops....then you might feel much better about the rain (if it causes you to knit something very very soft)...good luck!!!

The colors in the yarn are pretty. I really don't have any project ideas for the yarn at the moment, but Ravelry might be some help.
Good luck!

Ooooh, that's pretty. Hope you had a great day doing some outdoor knitting.

Speaking of socks, how's that sweater coming? ;-P
