I had ordered Sock Innovation on Amazon only to be told I would have to wait a month for it because they were out of stock. A hot item I'd say! Instead I went to Borders with my 25% off coupon and got this yesterday. As for Elizabeth, I put up on Twitter that I was looking to buy it and a lovely lady whom I follow on Twitter offered up her barely used copy for a whopping 1/3 off the price! How cool is that? I've come to the realization that if you make socks with great patterns, the yarn doesn't need to be fancy, it just has to knit to gauge. I like that idea. I can buy ten dollar Cascade Heritage and make beautiful socks at half the price of other yarns. Looking through Cookie's book briefly last night, I was blown away by all the patterns and cannot wait to dive in! I'm sort of savoring it, waiting for when I have a good hour or two just to pour over it and absorb it all.
A friend of mine is having a baby so I decided to get on board and knit a Baby Surprise Jacket which sent me hunting for Elizabeth Zimmermann's The Opinionated Knitter. As stated, I got it from a generous woman on Twitter who gave me a great discount on it. I love a discount! Briefly going through this book last night, I was taken with how it was done with EZ's old newsletter. Brilliant! I saw some lovely things in there and will need some time to get through this book too.
Yesterday Al and I went knitting in Madison Square Park again. It was gorgeous out and I got a bit of a sunburn. Again. You'd think after forty odd years on this earth I'd learn to wear sunblock but no. I'm a little pink around the edges.
This weekend is our annual Memorial Day/Birthday Bash. It's Glenn's (husband not son) and Patrick's birthdays this coming week so we have a big barbecue at the country house to celebrate. A bunch of old friends I haven't seen in a while will be joining us this year thanks to Facebook. Also a bunch of newer friends and family will be there. I hope to get some knitting done between now and next week so I have something to show you when I get back. Like a completed pair of socks already! Hope you all enjoy your Memorial Day weekend and the start to summer!

8 Talk to me:
I'm just so delighted that you're enjoying the EZ book! I'm a believer in putting your wishes out there because you just never know who might be listening :-)
I enjoy all of the EZ books, and like you, I initially purchased that one for the BSJ. Schoolhouse Press now sells the pattern for the BSJ and adult BSJ separately, which I think is awesome. That particular book never fit right on my shelf. It's an odd size!
I've been considering getting a Kindle for myself and would love to see more knitting books available in a Kindle version. It sounds like you love yours!
I checked out your site from the Blogger Awards and liked it. I voted for you. I hope you win.
Please check out my site nominated for the best blog design. http://bloggerschoiceawards.com/blogs/show/73022. I hope you will vote for me also.

I'll definitely check out this baby surprise jacket you've been mentioning :) Think I can knit two by January?!!?
I've still never read anything by EZ even though I've been told that's blasphemy for a knitter... I'll get to it. Nice job twittering down the price!! Let us know how it is!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Patrick and Glenn!!
I know you'll have a fabulous weekend!
