This is my first sock! Isn't it spectacular??? Ok maybe not so much. I mean looking at it, you can definitely tell it's a sock albeit a big one. I tried it on and it fits me but then again I'm one shoe size down from shopping at the tranny shop on the west side. I loved making this sock. The pattern is well written and very easy to follow. The problem is me. I didn't measure gage. I think that is something I'm going to have to start doing. I'm starting to realize that maybe I'm a bit ambitious in my knitting. Maybe I should read more? Maybe I should work on easier projects? Or maybe I should just measure my damn gage. Everytime I look at this sock I giggle. It certainly LOOKS like a sock, only bigger. Oddly enough I've begun the other sock and it's not as big. Could I have stretched this out in trying it on? Will the other sock stretch bigger as I make it? Should I wash them and shrink them a bit? Suggestions, anyone? On another note, my photography is much better when done in the country. The natural light outdoors makes me a much better photographer. Trying to fit something on a window sill in the city to photograph it sucks. I think I'll bring my projects upstate to photograph from now on. This was taken on the railing of our front deck. No fuss, no muss. Should be a summer full of good photos. I hope.

10 Talk to me:
Its a great sock.
I can't understand why anyone thinks their first sock has to be perfect in every way.
You learned something about knitting in the round,
you learn heel stitch, and turning, gussets and toes..
IT IS A WONDERFUL SOCK
(so what it doesn't quite fit!)
the next one will be better.
(my first sock didn't fit either.. but now? always!)
handknitted socks are always bigger than machine made socks, and so much more kind to your feet!
Just keep going a bit longer and then compare them
Looks like a great first sock to me! Handknit socks do look much bigger than the store-bought ones because they don't have elastic in them. Don't give up - the handknit ones are definitely worth the trouble! :)
You know I feel your pain, girlfriend! Congrats on the sock - I will do one again some time in life, I'm sure.
You're right about the photography. I will photograph outdoors whenever I can - even in winter. God makes a better landscape than anything I have indoors.
You could knit one in Christmas colors and use it as a decoration. It would be perfect :P
Just kidding. Your sock looks absolutely alright!
But where is the other sock?
It's yours! You made it! It's amazing and you should be proud.
You BIL would have to shop at the tranny store, so it should be perfect. A sock everyone, tranny or not can appreciate!
Good work!
You, my friend, would be deemed a "knit with snot" knitter in the Kalamazoo region of Michigan!!
Welcome to being AWESOME!!
Run out and treat yourself to some orange yarn and knit on, knit on!!
Congratulations on your first sock!!
It looks perfect to me!
I wish my third sock was looking as good.
Hope to see you soon. Perhaps tomorrow knitting in the park?

Aw, I think the first sock is LOVELY. For a first sock-- it really LOOKS like a sock!! I have a feeling mine will probably look like a hat, or something :)
Congrats on being done with the first one!
And if you do decide to go tranny shoe shopping on the West side, please take pictures of that as well :) Just kidding-- the deck picture is great! Sure all the other summer ones will be as well!
Congratulations on your first sock! Welcome to the slippery slope...
