SCORE!!!!
I was perusing Craigslist, as I have a tendency to do, and I came across an ad selling yarn. Not just any old yarn but Manos del Uruguay yarn. It was approximately $600 worth of this lovely yarn and he was looking for the best offer. So...I made him an offer he couldn't refuse. Told him I wanted to see it first and if it was to my liking, that I'd buy it from him and asked him to send me a photo. I called my friend Al and asked if she wanted to go in on it with me and she said sure if it's good stuff. Then he sent me this:
Now we just had to check the quality of it. (This is starting to remind me of my checkered past in the '70s). We met him at my local Starbucks. I have to give the man kudos..he showed up in a snowstorm with two huge suitcases and a smile on his face to boot. Al and I looked it over and felt it up, looked at each other and said "SOLD!" Al was smart enough to bring two huge canvas bags that managed to hold everything. We schlepped it to my house and divied it up and still have some leftover to donate to a school knitting program. There were also loads of needles that we'll donate. See the cream colored Manos on the left? That, along with one of the browns, is going to be a sweater for my sister. She's in Florida and always cold. She needs a sweater. It will be my first but I know with Al and the girls at The Point, I'll be fine. I think. I've even picked out a pattern I really like so I'm almost all ready to go!
