It Is The Scarf That Would Not End

It just goes on and on, my friends!
I've been working on this scarf since I was about ten years old. Or so it seems. It's been a few weeks but it seems like FOREVER. It's now to the point where I've put other things aside just to get it done. It's absolutely beautiful really but the time invested is overwhelming. I don't know if I should put it aside for a bit and work on other things so it doesn't seem so tedious or should I keep plowing on excluding all other projects just to get this done?
When I feel this way I try to think of the person I'm making it for. Glenn's teacher, Ms. Chisolm, who is amazing. She truly GETS him and is so good and kind to him. Glenn goes to a private school for kids with "issues" (social and emotional) and he doesn't usually get along with his teachers but Ms. Chisolm is special and wonderful and we're so happy and grateful that he's in her class. That's what keeps me plowing on. If I were rich, I'd send her a big ole check since teachers are unbelievably underpaid. Since I'm not rich, a scarf made with love and admiration, ok and a bit of frustration, that will keep her very warm, will have to suffice.
Ok well back to cabling. Then I have to find a project for Ms. Connelly. From what Glenn says she's pretty awesome too. I guess I should count my blessings because my son has such great teachers instead of kvetching about being in a bit of a rut. One thing I CAN tell you. Ms. Connelly's getting a hat.

This cracked me up! I have to say the scarf is so beautiful it will be worth all the work in the end. Think how accomplished you're gonna feel!

I think it's wonderful that you're knitting Ms. Chisolm a scarf. However, I suggest knitting fingerless mitts for Ms. Connelly. I know a lot of people knit them as presents for their kids' teachers. (Kaye over at Mason Dixon blog for example.) Ravelry has tons of free patterns for them. If you knit the ubiquitous Fetching from Knitty.com, I would suggest a bind-off other than the picot one since that tends to curl up a lot.
